Your Instructor
Hi, I’m Bishop Glake Hill, Ph.D.
Born in 1974 in Canton, MS, Bishop Dr. Glake Hill is a distinguished leader in both chemistry and ministry. A graduate of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School and Tougaloo College (B.S. in Chemistry), he earned his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Jackson State University in 2003 and was awarded the prestigious Presidential Post-Doctoral Fellowship at UC Berkeley.
In ministry, Bishop Hill accepted his calling in 2006 and became an ordained Elder in 2008. He has served as Senior Pastor of Greater Mt. Bethel COCHUSA in Jackson, MS since 2010. His leadership extends to roles in the South Central Diocese, including Director of the Pastors and Leaders Conference and Chairman of the COCHUSA National Education Trustee Board. In 2021, he was elected Presiding Prelate of the South Central Diocese, overseeing 43 churches.
As a tenured professor at Jackson State University, Bishop Hill has over 19 years of experience and has secured $20 million in research funding, with over 55 publications. He is also a mentor for African-American doctoral students and a community advocate, serving as a campus minister liaison and participating in social justice initiatives.
Bishop Hill has transformed Greater Mt. Bethel Church into a community hub, involved in global mission work, and is an accomplished author and speaker, hosting the His Fullness Podcast. He resides in Jackson, MS with his wife, Shonda Allen Hill, and their three children, Glake III, James, and Eden.
